Hi All, and a happy new year to you!

This year is gearing up to be a cracker one for technolgy, with the so many promising things on the way.  We cant wait to see what is going to happen with the National Broadband network (NBN) as it begins to unfold across the country. Network Ten have been extremly busy getting ready for  their new channel, "11", and the strong Aussie Dollar continues to bring prices down of consumer electronics accross all areas of the industry.

And we are only in the third week.

NBN...

Well Julia promised it and and we are now waiting to see how all of it unfolds. No doubt there will be a lot of teething problems, that comes with anything new!  One things for sure though, high speed internet is coming in one way or other. Higher download limits are now becoming available and the pricing is becoming very competitive.

We have noticed it here at home with our downloads, with all of the devices now in our home that can log onto the internet, our download requirements have sky rocketed. Just a few months ago, we were on a 20Mbps speed with a download limit of 12gb, and only half way thorugh the month we found we had chewed it up. So we rang Telstra and conveniently, they had a new plan available that gave us 50gb of download at no extra cost. So, I took it. The Very next month, we found that 2 weeks into the month, we had again exceeded our download, so i did the whole process again. This time, we got 100gb of download for, wait for it.... $10 less per month, on the same provider. Thankfully, we have not exceeded this limit yet, but with faster speeds comes the ability to do more, have more, so I see in the no to distant future that we will have download limits of multiple hundreds of gb download.

As online gaming becomes more popular, movies on demand, and for the business's, conference calling, we will see these high speeds and high downloads being chewed up very quickly.

We are very lucky to be in the position to help people take advantage of  whatever the NBN brings, as we know it is supposed to deliver 100mbps to our door. But how does that get around your house? and how to we set this up? should we be wired or can we just go wireless? Well my answer is... a mixture of both, you cant beet wire for security and reliability, but wireless has an extreme easiness about it, especially with iphones and the new smart devices coming out. But, you still cant be a bit of wire to guarantee connection.

The Big Picture are experts at delivering Structured wiring around the house, so if you are reading this and looking for answers to the above questions, then give us a call.

Channel 11...

Well its up and running, Network 10 has finally got another station in the air. The station is aimed at under 30's but with shows like mork and mindy, Happy days and family ties, one wonders wether their target is a little off, anyway, time will tell.

For those who did not automatically pick up Channel 11, there will most likeley be only 2 reasons

1. You are watching analogue tv and,

2. It just didnt come througfh automatically

Either way we can help. If you are not on digital yet, its really time to get moving, apart from the approaching switch off date of analogue TV, its just far supierior to analogue TV, it has the extra channels, superb picture quality and awesom sound, not to mention the data info that comes down in the form of TV guides, channel specific programme guides, and the ability to record on to hard drive PVR's with out buying tapes or blank DVD's.

If you need to advice on what to do from here with digital swapover, please just call, we are only to happy to help.

Strong Aussie Dollar...

Not much to be said really, except prices are falling on a lot of different products, so if you were looking at it 6 months ago and elected not to purchase back then, please take another look, as it might  be just a bit more in reach now.

Good bye for now...

Regards

Mark
